Tween Service Project

These pictures were taken by Kaylea, too, and posted on the church Facebook page where I stole them shamelessly.  Blake went with Gabi & the Tweens to serve the homeless.  Another pastor from church also went with his daughter and brought his guitar so the kids could sing carols to the guests they served. Gabi had limited use of her casted arm and couldn't get it wet or dirty, so she wasn't serving on the food line. Instead, she handed out bagged lunches for the next day and offered them Bibles. 

Gabi LOVED this service project and wants to go back really soon; our church serves at Under the Bridge twice a month.

MAD Party

Here are some pictures from the church's Facebook page (taken by Kaylea, the children's pastor) of Micah's MAD (Mission, Arts & Drama) Christmas party. They made ornaments, cookies, and valentines for soldiers.  (It takes a while for mail to get overseas so they made valentines instead of Christmas cards.)

Bibles for Big Kids

Micah told me all of his Bible story books were for babies. He was carrying his Early Readers Bible to church, but didn't think it was good for a first grader.



I looked at it, and the pictures were a little babyish. But while he is a good reader, he isn't ready to tackle the actual Bible yet. So I started searching Amazon and found The Action Bible. Get this-- it's a children's Bible that has been illustrated by a comic book artist.



How's that for a Bible that's not for babies? Pretty cool--Micah gives it a thumbs up. Gabi likes it, too.

VBS

We had VBS at our church this week and I have shamelessly stolen most of these pictures off the church's facebook page. A few I took as i helped w/ micah's first grade group. Both the kids missed part of the fun due to being sick, but loved the time they were there.


The church where the kids go to school didn't have their own VBS this year and suggested parents bring their kids to ours, so several of the kids' school friends came as well.

Noah VBS

We spent two days of spring break at church learning about Noah. We did paintings, chalk drawings, sang, went to the zoo and the humane society. Jessie even came one day!

Mardi Gras

We had a fundraiser mardi gras party at church. There were red beans and rice... And chicken nuggets....


And beads....

Angels Among Us

The kids made angels at the church advent fair. Angel Gabrielle is quite beautiful and very fashion forward. She definitely gives off the good news vibe.


You know how the archangel Michael is often portrayed as a Roman soldier? Apparently the angel Micah is a black belt ninja warrior. Why not?
