Our Halloween Visitor

Blake went to drag the trashcans to curb this morning on his way to work, but came back in and said, "There's something furry and alive in the trashcan. I'm about to knock the can over with a broom. Want to come see?" So, I picked up Micah and my camera, and this is what we found: This is Micah trying to convince me and Blake that the possum is actually a porcupine. Notice Blake wouldn't take his eyes off the creepy critter.
This was everything a Halloween adventure needed... mystery, nocturnal furry creatures, and a broomstick. What else will the day hold?

Jack-O-Lanterns

Our pumpkins... Blake carved the one on the left; I carved the other two. The middle one, I carved under direction of Micah ("reh-tandle eyes, trinandle nose, scary mouth wid pointy teef!"); Gabi asked for a cat on her jack-o-lantern. We need to work on her whiskers a bit so the light comes through them, but otherwise I think they are all nifty looking!

Stay tuned for more Halloween pics!

Gabi's Performance Weekend

Gabi went with Gramsy and Jessie to see The Boxcar Children at the children's theater on Saturday and then went with Daddy to an operatic performance at an area church. After the play, she thought it might be fun to be an actor like her Uncle Chad; after the opera she said they had really good cookies. Later I mentioned the city performance of The Nutcracker. When Gabi found out she could have auditioned for a Christmas ballet and I didn't take her.... well, I may be in a bit of trouble.

Blake Really Wants You Take Him Seriously

These are pictures from the leadership retreat Blake and several lay leaders from church attended recently. Should we we be concerned about the path they may lead us down?

There's a Hole in his Logic

Micah is my sweet-tooth kid. One of his favorite special treats in donut holes, which he has only ever eaten at his grandparents' houses. We recently started having a fellowship time at church between the 2 services, with lots of yummy treats, but I usually leave Micah in the nursery. I decided last Sunday to take him out of the nursery to have a snack with us. I stuck my head in the nursery door and said, "Hey, do you wanna come get some donut holes?" His response..... "YES! We're going to MiMi's!"

Pumpkins Again!

Blogger's photo-uploader was misbehaving yesterday, so I snuck that picture-trail show in to get the pics up. But I know you grandparent types wanted the actual pictures so you can save them. Here goes, plus a few more. If you want others, let me know!

We ran into Gabi's friend, Avery, who sits at the pink table with her at Kindergarten.
Gabi searched high and low, inspecting every pumpkin before choosing this one to be her jack-o-lantern.
Micah actually took this picture of me himself.
And the one requested for it's sheer cuteness!
See what I have to go through to get good pictures... this is his "cute face" apparently.

Pumpkin Patch

Pink Boots

MiMi sent Gabi these nifty new pink boots, and she really likes them. But she still hasn't stopped squishing her foot into the too-small pair of pink Barbie boots MiMi bought her last year.

Blue Tracks

MiMi & Poppy have the best blue tracks and Thomas train set. Micah loves to watch them go 'round!

Swashbuckling Good Times

Blake used his cell phone camera to capture these pirate mates hopping around their ship with their fearsome foam swords. Arrrgggh!

Meet Gabi's Friend, Kaziya

Worn out kids..........

Two days in a row the kids have gone straight from school to the playground. They are worn out! I hoping they sleep as well tonight as they did last night. I actually had to wake them up to get ready for school!

Mr. Independent

I woke up this morning about 6:30. No child had poked me in the eye or crawled in the bed with me or called for mama. Blake is out of town. And yet, I hear the TV from the living room. I get up to investigate. Gabrielle is sound asleep in her room. So I head to the living room and am greeted by Micah: "Hi Mama! You woked up! Me watch TV."

I have no idea how long he had been up, but I am quite glad that all he did was watch cartoons instead of, let's say, throw bath toys in the toilet or try to brush the cat's teeth.
