We've got it up, but not fully ornamented. The kids are already really enjoying it.
And these are their stories...

Tying one on
Gabi can tie her shoes. She got to have her name added on the giant shoe list at Kindergarten. She's only owned shoes that have laces for 2-3 months, so everybody cheer- YAY for GABI!

Cowboy & Cowgirl
There were miniature ponies at Gabi's school today, so all the children were invited to come in their western-wear. Gabi got her boots, hat, bandanna, and jeans on and Micah showed off his new boots and old hat, too. He didn't wear his to school today, but did stumble up and down the hall a time or two saying "yee haw!" (The boots are a size too big. Good thing his feet will grow. LOL)

The First Thanksgiving, as told by Gabi
Once upon a time there was a turkey who danced all around the fire.
He was the Indian turkey who was the coach of the Indians.
He found these little guys who were on a ship and they were called the Pilgrims.
The Pilgrims were hungry and the turkey Indians showed them how to plant corn, pumpkins, zucchini and carrots -- all sorts of good stuff!
They had a big feast called Thanksgiving and they lived happily ever after.

'Tis Birthday Season
It's birthday season here... Micah had another buddy (Daniel) turn three today with a big party. They had fun with the bump'n'jump and sand box, and because this is Arkansas, I saw some of my cousins at the party. Walt's mom took these shots of the kids playing.
Me & Micah watching the Pinata thumping:

Yes, there was a giant bump'n'jump thing in the yard... but my kid (and his buddy) dug in the sandbox and played with trucks the whole time.

Gabi and her friend, Avie (sister of the birthday boy), watch in annoyance as the little kid gets first whack at the pinata. "Come on, kids, we want the candy to come out! Not to just hit the thing all day!"

Woo hoo! I finally get to hit it! (But, no, she didn't break it open, despite a few good hits.)

Gabi had tons of fun... and it was cool to see cousins Caroline and Landon, too!
The following day we went to Walt's third birthday party which was also fun... a bump'n'jump and a playground! One more party and then I think we're done til Micah is 3 in January.

Leaf Play
Gabi as Lady the Engine

Micah's best buddy, Benjamin, had a train-themed third birthday party. Gabi, of course, had to dress for the occasion. Her initial instinct was a ball gown, but when I told her I didn't think that would be quite fitting for a little boy's train party, she made herself a Lady costume. (Lady is a magic purple and gold engine who is part of the Thomas crew.) She dressed all in purple and gold and drew out these train parts (note the funnel with steam rising on the top). I helped her cut them out and assemble them onto a lovely purple construction paper hat. It was a fun party!

The Leaves FINALLY Turned
Hallowwen '08: Cowgirl? Pirate? Joan of Arc?
Thanks for the pink hat, MiMi!
I always shop the p[ost-Halloween sales for dress-up items, and this year got the Knight costume. Lots of fun already. Gabi thinks she may want to be Joan of Arc next year since I showed her a picture.. a skirt and a sword; now that is hard to beat!
Mich was quite resourceful... he has no stick horse (Christmas, hint, hint), but thankfully his trusty lovey Harriet will do in a pinch.

Christmas Plannning
Gabi was feeling bummed about Halloween being over, so I reminded her Christmas wasn't far away. She got excited at the thought of that and decided to make her wish list. Here's what is on it:
Disney Princess Barbies (but not Snow White or Cinderella, as she already has those)
Barbie Carriage
a Webkinz (must be pink; animal can be a cat, pony or unicorn)
Ball Gown (pink, sparkley, shiny, with purple stripes or polka dots)
Yard decorations (angels, princesses, unicorns, or fairies)
Fish tank with goldfish
Chinese dress (pink)
Strawberry Shortcake Sticker Stories book about the Ballet Recital
Micah thought this sounded like fun, and said he wanted his turn. So I got a fresh piece of paper out and said, "OK, Micah, what do you want for Christmas?" His answer......
Toys!!!!
It cracked me up that she was so specific and he was so easily satisfied. Just about right, LOL. By the way, the Webkinz and the fish tank have already been or will be purchased by us, as well as a lot of Pixar Cars for Micah. You can look on the Amazon link on the left for more ideas if you are already shopping.
