Hermione

Gabi's been saving money from birthday, allowance, and her job getting the neighbor's paper while they were on vacation-- and she invested some of it on this:

It's a costume for a character from the Harry Potter books, Hermione. She plans to wear it to the movie (sans the hat!), to a HP party at the library next week, for Halloween, and just, you know, when she wants to feel magical.

Kindergarten Cowboys

These are some scenes from Micah's kindergarten program. There was a fun old-west theme, and lots of twangy music. That Halloween costume came in really handy! Micah was in a trio who provided the lead vocals to "Go Horse Go" while riding stick horses. Giddyup!

A very silly army guy.

Be Ours

We've spent part of our snow days prepping class Valentine cards.

Micah is giving karate valentines with Smarties rockets. He also decorated this card box for his homework this week:

It's decorated with heart rockets and the word L<3VE -- he insisted the O be a heart!

Gabi has two kinds of valentines:

iPods & iPhones. The iPods have scratch off messages.
You can peek under the apps:

She is ready to spread the love! Even wearing her valentine PJs while she works.

And of course spread more Smarties.

A Better World

When Gabs cleans her room, she spends a good bit of the time decorating-- such as tying her fuzzy scarf into a bow for the globe. After all, for Gabi, a dressed up world is a better world.

Fashionista and Comfortisto

Gabi is good at combining clothes to get a cute look for church mornings. Micah wanted to dress nice, too, but didn't like to button his shirt all the way up to his neck so he ended up clipping his tie to his undershirt.

Bleesed Kateri

The third graders at the kids' school participate in the All Saints Day mass by being part of the parade of saints. Each third grader chooses a saint and researches his or her life, writes and illustrates a report about the saint, and then dresses in costume like the saint. Gabi chose Blessed Kateri, who has not quite been canonized yet although she has been declared "blessed" which is a step in the process as I understand it. Gabi's mom may have encouraged this choice b/c she already had two American Indian costumes to choose from to wear to mass.

Even The Soft Guys Need a Costume

Micah calls any characters he plays with- action figures, lego minifigs, soldiers, etc- "guys." Stuffed animals are "soft guys." Two of his favorite soft guys are Rintoo the Tiger (named after a tiger on a cartoon) and Toggy the Doggy. Today, Micah decided they needed costumes for halloween.

Rintoo the tiger dressed up as a Lion, thanks to a rubber band to hold on some strips of paper for a mane. (Admittedly, I did most of this one. But Rintoo likes it!)

Toggy is a robot. (Micah did most of this one- aluminmum foil, tape, and some stickers for buttons.)

Now the soft guys are ready to Trick or Treat!

Preview Sheriff Micah

Micah went out and played in parts of his Halloween costume today. He said he was being a cowboy bounty hunter instead of a Sheriff. I think it had to do with having two guns like hte Star Wars bounty hunters, Jango and Boba Fett.

Flash Jr.

Micah got some birthday money so we headed to our favorite local toy store on a day off school. Guess what he found? An awesome cape!! He has a blue cape but it was getting a little short for him since Gramzy made it when he was two. And this one.... makes him run as fast as lightening!!!
