Pirate Party Preview
I just finished the pirate cake- Arrrgghh! I confess that this whole thing is my idea. Micah had 2 simple requests about his cake... it should be chocolate, and it should be blue. He's been having so much fun with his toy pirate ship he got for Christmas, I decided a pirate cake would be swell. So here it is-- chocolate, blue, and piratey!

Micah's (almost) Birthday!
We pretended it was Micah's birthday today. When he woke up this morning, he got to open his gifts from us. Gabi got him a bathrobe and a bank; mommy and daddy got him a set of rubber dinosaurs and 3 Toobs of toys- pirates, knights, and boats. The pirates invaded the Veggie Tales and took over their ship.

We also had Micah's first "friend" party today. We invited the mom's group to meet us for a birthday playdate at the state park visitor's center. Here's Micah checking out the bones at the touch table:

Kindergartners in the News

The Kindergärtners from Gabi's school were in the paper this weekend, showing off the snowmen they made (although I think Gabi's is a snow princess). Up on the right is Gabi's friend Evan. Below is detail of the picture with Gabi in it, on the right. Of course the day she makes it in the newspaper is the day I let her fix her own hair, LOL. Gabi said the president took her picture, but we think she means the principal. :)

Feliz Cumpleanos! (My Birthday)
Blake took us out to our favorite little Mexican place for my birthday, and videoed the cute waiters singing and pounding a sombrero onto my head. Gabi got a big kick out of it! It may have been a bit too loud and bumpy (the muscley waiter who gave the kids a quarter each for Christmas kept bouncing our booth up and down) for Micah but he had a steady to supply of salsa and queso to settle him down.
I really racked up for my birthday! I got a Keurig coffee maker with lots of coffee K-cups, a cake holder thingy, iPod accessories, and my annual shopping spree with mom. I'm a happy chick!

PaPa Jack & Razorbacks
We had a really jam-packed weekend. Grandad, Kim, Jean, Aunt Chelsea and Uncle Chad (or Uncle Chelsea as Micah was calling him) all came for a belated holiday celebration. Gabi spent the next 24 hours solid wearing her new Razorback cheerleader uniform. With mouse ears.

Gramsy & PaPa Jack also came to visit. Blake was working on his sermon and Gramsya nd I went on my annual birthday shopping spree, so PaPa Jack got to keep the kids.
Everyone had fun......
PaPa Jack even got to wear the pink pompom as a wig. Gabi said he looks like a cool dude. You agree, right?

the Cookie incident
Micah has experienced his first great injustice. He was happily munching on a bag of Oreo thin crisps, and even sharing some with his sister. But, horror of horrors, he reached his hand in after Gabi and found nothing. The realization that she had eaten the very last cookie came over him with a flush of anger and he lashed out, whiplashing the traitor with the empty cookie package. He then collapsed in a sobbing heap, wailing, "She ate my last cookie, she ate my last cookie!!" He did manage to collect himself, but continued to express his righteous indignation over the loss of this most precious cookie for an hour or more. "You not eat my last cookie anymore, OK, sissy? You say yes ma'am now."
The cookie incident happened 3 days ago, and Micah brought it up still again today. He is really dwelling on all the injustice and unrest in the world, that someone would eat his last cookie.
Gabi started to have a sip of his chocolate milk today, and I reminded her of the cookie incident. She wisely chose to walk away.

2kids 2kats 4fish

As I mentioned in the earlier posts, the kids got a 5 gallon fish tank for Christmas and now each own a pair of tiger barbs. They each have one regular tiger barb (with black stripes) and one albino tiger barb (with white stripes). Micah has named his Goldilocks and Zebra. Gabi named hers Pinkie and Tiger. Goldilocks is kind of a laid back fish who doesn't do much. Zebra likes to hang out in the blue truck. Tiger is the prettiest, with a bright pink nose (do fish have noses?) and bold black stripes. Pinkie is a passive aggressive little thing who hides in amongst the foliage for a while then suddenly strikes out to nibble the other fishy's fins. They are all fast fish, and fun to watch. But don't expect the blog title to change to "2kids2kats4phish" anytime soon.
