The deck of the new house is the perfect spot for shooting water guns.

Bamboo Shoots

Tis the season for bamboo shoots in our backyard. Gabi has been harvesting and peeling them. Not planning any stirfries anytime soon, though.

Message on a Driveway

For years, Gabi has kept our driveway full of drawings, hopscotches, and letters. You may remember this old driveway scene. Lately she is all about giant messages. She covers all the major holidays: She draws welcome notes for anyone who is coming to visit.

She begs the ice cream truck to stop at our house with ginormous "WE LOVE YOU, ICE CREAM TRUCK!" slogans.

I narrowly avoided having out vacation announced on the driveway.

We had a scene from the Nile out there when VBS was starting.

Currently it says "Hola, Abuela!" because MiMi was coming by, and using Spanish helped add variety to her signs.

Come by some time and see if your name might be up in chalk.

What's Bloomin'

Parsley

Sage

Rosemary

and Thyme (sing with me!)

And when you're done singing, I also have Purple Basil- it tastes like Carinos. Yummy.

Peppers (I thought this plant had died, but it revived! Yay!)
More Basil- but ordinary green

Strawberries

Morning Glories

Lily

Oregano (moved this from Russellville!)

More Thyme- Lemon Thyme.
We also have tomato plants that are big and leafy and green but totally lack tomatoes. May put them in a sunnier place next year. Oh well!

The Porch, er, uhm, I mean- Sciece Lab

The porch has been a place for much scientific research this summer. We've captured specimens (lightning bugs!) and recorded volcanic activity.

You can tell there is some really ground-breaking research going on here b/c there's an armed guard round-the-clock.

Tulipier

I told you the tulip fun had only just begun! The yard keeps getting tulipier and tulipier.

Or would the correct term be "more tulipy"?

Bloomin' Tulips

I bought one of those bags of 100 tulip bulbs from Sam's in the fall.... and the fun has only just begun!

Mardi Gras on our Circle

If one parade is fun, two parades are better! When we got home from school and had masks, and streamers, and a decorated wagon, the logical thing to do was to start belting out "Oh When the Saints" and march around the circle. The neighbors came out to watch our little Mardi Gras parade around our circle and they said it made their Fat Tuesday. Then we went inside and ate King Cake. After all, if some sugar is good, more is better. Happy Mardi Gras!

(Don't ask me why there is a light saber in the mardi gras parade- the only answer I have for you is that it's because Micah was in the parade, and the two things just sort of go together.)
