Gabi did almost all of the tree decorating this year. The rest of us helped her some. Dad helped her reach the high stuff. I took goofy pictures. Micah vacuumed up the floor.

Mostly he was distracted by Star Wars the Clone Wars on TV.
And this one is already plotting ways to knock all the ornaments down.

Gabi as Uhura

So Gabi hasn't actually seen the new Star Trek movie, but she has seen a few episodes of Star Trek on TV. I think most of her concept of who Uhura is comes from the action figures or from our set of collectible glasses from BK. She really liked Uhura's red mini dress and boots, but I think she mostly likes to dress up to match her daddy.

The kids have been enjoying watching the new animated Star Wars show, and Gabi is particularly happy about the girl jedi. She got this costume for Christmas.

HGTV is Educational

Gabi: "Mom, wouldn't it be really functional if my wall had a handle on it and I could just pull it up and see some stairs to climb to a secret room? Handles are just so functional."
Mom: "Yeah, that would be neat. Where'd you hear the word 'functional' though?"
Gabi: "From Candace on Fine Design (Divine Design). She likes things that are functional."

What does it say about a five-year old's parents if she dresses in a Star Trek uniform *and* draws Klingon brow ridges on her doodle dolls?

Jadzia Dax for Halloween

Yep, it's the first of July and I just ordered Gabi's Halloween costume. She and Blake will both be Star Fleet officers, Gabi in particular will be Jadzia Dax* of Deep Space 9. Being a girl alien from Star Trek was Gabi's idea, but Blake and I picked out which one she would be, but I think she'll look just like a mini-Dax. We just did a make-up test, and I think this will work well once I make it go down her neck. Blake bought his uniform shirt in Vegas.

Duff Sent Gabi a Card

Remember the post about the fan letter that Gabi sent to Duff, the awesome chef at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore and star of FoodTV's Ace of Cakes? And of course our recent attempt to "play Duff" with the StarTrek cake for Blake? Guess what?! Today Gabi got this card in the mail, signed to Gabi by Chef Duff! How cool is that?
