Comical Worship
Micah likes to spend the worship service lying on a pew reading a comic book. The good news (heh,heh) is that he is reading his comic book Bible!

Groovy Girl Scouts
Gabi's troop's big event was today and their 1960s booth turned out great. They served Tang & cereal and played Twister. Their troop won for Best Costumes, with an honorable mention from the event organizers for the girl in the Star Trek costume with the cute flipped hair!

Valentimes
Gabi gave fortune cookie valentines (felt cookies filled w/ funny american girl fortunes) and Micah gave Star Wars. My favorites said, "Yoda one for me!" Gabi got a funny one that said "I mustache you to be mine" and included the peel-n-stick 'stache. We braided G's hair in a heart shape. We gave the teachers Heifer cards and painted wooden boxes that the kid's nailed together at the Home Depot. It was a crafty valentines!

Gabi, Creative and Awesome
Gabi is hard at work on her book report poster for "Sarah, Plain and Tall." When it is done, she will focus on the next big project for Girl Scouts. The local council is having a celebration for the one hundredth birthday of Girl Scouts by having troops get together and make booths for each decade. G's troop will focus on the 1960s. The troop needs to know a lot about the decade so the can decorate the booth, wear period costumes, answer questions to event visitors, and serve snacks related to the decade, so they divided up the info. One girl is studying up on the presidents, another on civil rights, another on toys, another on movies, another on music and woodstock, etc. Gabi volunteered to become the 1960s NASA expert. She had the idea to dress as Uhura from the original Star Trek series which aired in the 60s. She's begun researching, and it's been fun to see how well the character of Uhura fits into the social movements of the 60s by being the first non-menial female black character on TV. The actress who played the role also later appeared in NASA commercials and inspired all kinds of people to join the space program. Gabi is pretty excited & learning a lot!
