Red Socks

Noticing that Micah had worn red socks for several days in a row, I dared to ask if it was the same pair. "No, mom, don't worry-- I switched to another red pair after the third day."

Zoo!

Aunt Pet renewed out LR Zoo membership for Christmas! Thanks, Aunt Pet!

Gabi dressed for the occasion in tiger jacket and cheetah leggings.

We saw the naked mole rats, but none of them were getting dressed.

The lions put on a show for us- roaring and jumping on each other, then posing stoically for pictures.

Gabi invested a quarter to get a closer view of the rhino.

"We match!"

Micah brought his year-old camera.

He kept needing a lift to get a good shot.

But being as high as the giraffes made him a bit nervous.
We can't wait for the real penguins to get to LR! In the mean time, these will have to do.
Gabi took some notes about the spider monkeys.

But they were uncharacteristically quiet and withdrawn on this cloudy, drizzly yet warm day. Maybe they have the post-Christmas blues. Poor monkeys.

Light our Way

Micah lit the Christ candle (with a little backup from me).

Santa's Sleigh... or Space Shuttle

Santa left this stuff for Gabi:
The big things were an art set, doll, and zhu zhu pets. She also had some lip gloss, candy, a Webkinz charm, and book in her stocking.

This stuff for Micah:

A double-ended spinning lightsaber and remote control car were the biggies. He also has a couple of small star wars things, "ewok cookies" (Teddy Grahams), some new markers, and those kinds of little things in there.

Then- for everyone- a space shuttle!

Made from recycled and recyclable cardboard!
To infinity and beyond!

Christmas Eve

The night before Christmas, we dressed up and went to church. Gabi did one of the lesson reading from the book of Luke, and Micah and the family lit the Christ candle.

Then home to put out Santa's milk & cookies!

Christmas w/ Mimi, Poppy & Pet

We celebrated the holiday with Mimi, Poppy, and Aunt Pet on Christmas Eve. Didn't all of MiMi's gifts look pretty in the matching red and white paper? Next year she'll have to get me a memo on the color scheme in advance so my packages match. The kids got lots of fun and cool stuff.

Micah got some Kung Zhu hamster stuff-- really awesome! Its hard to get a candid shot of Micah when he's excited.

Because when he's really excited, he moves fast and you get het a photo of a blur- like this:

He does slow down to play his DS video game. He got the LEGO Batman game and adores it!

Gabi got girly lotions and potions and clothes and a pretty barbie.

It was a great!

Many Minty Cookies

Gabi made some mint chocolate cookies almost all by herself. Yum!

Angels Among Us

The kids made angels at the church advent fair. Angel Gabrielle is quite beautiful and very fashion forward. She definitely gives off the good news vibe.

You know how the archangel Michael is often portrayed as a Roman soldier? Apparently the angel Micah is a black belt ninja warrior. Why not?
